Darts Predictions

It is time for the World Championships at Ally Pally and we will have tips for every round updated daily.

Bunting vs Van den Bergh Prediction 15/12/17 World Darts Championships

Seedings

Stephen Bunting: No. 16.

Dimitri van den Bergh: Unseeded.

Match Odds

Stephen Bunting: 13/17 Marathonbet. Dimitri van den Bergh: 5/4 Betfair.

Prediction

You know that Christmas is just around the corner when the PDC World Championships get under way at Alexandra Palace. Reigning Champion Michael Van Gerwen got the party started last night, beating Christian Kist 3-1. There are another couple of cracking matches on Friday and the action starts at 19.15 on Sky Sports. Number 16 seed Stephen Bunting takes on the unseeded Belgian Dimitri van den Bergh in the 2nd live match of the night.

These two have met just once before, with Bunting prevailing by a single leg in a 6-5 thriller at The Players Championship. That would suggest there will be very little in this and the bookies odds reflect that. Bunting struggled on this stage last year and we think Van den Bergh could be worth backing. Just like when they met earlier this year we think this could go down to the wire, and at odds of 5/1 we think Van den Bergh can win 3-2.

Stephen Bunting vs Dimitri van den Bergh Prediction: Van den Bergh 3-2 @ 5/1 Skybet

Taylor vs Dobey Prediction 15/12/17 World Darts Championship

Seedings

Phil Taylor: No.4.

Chris Dobey: Unseeded.

Match Odds

Phil Taylor: 1/6 BetVictor. Chris Dobey: 11/2 Betfair.

Prediction

The darting legend that is Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor takes to the Ally Pally stage on Friday night for the first time in his final World Darts Championship appearance. The 14 time World Champion’s best years are behind him at the age of 57, but he is still capable of beating the best on his day and nobody will relish facing him at this tournament. Chris Dobey has met him once before and was well beaten by 6 legs to 3.

As you would imagine, Taylor is a very short price to get the job done vs Dobey. Odds of 1/6 about the Taylor win look just about right, but there is better value to be found elsewhere. Dobey won 3 legs against Taylor the only previous time they met, and that is the equivalent of a set in this tournament. Taylor is not the machine he once was, and while he will most likely win we think he will drop a set and at odds of 11/5 Taylor to win 3-1 is our bet.

Phil Taylor vs Chris Dobey Prediction: Taylor to win 3-1 @ 11/5 Ladbrokes

Where To Bet On Darts

There are a number of factors to take into consideration when choosing where to bet on darts. All of the major online bookies offer odds on darts matches and tournaments. So, what makes them stand out from the crowd? How many markets do they offer, how generous are the odds and do they offer live darts streaming are just some of the important questions. Deciding which one to use isn’t easy, but hopefully we can help you make the right choice.

For the sheer amount of markets available for betting on darts, Ladbrokes has to make the shortlist. This world renowned bookmaker has built a strong reputation in the industry, and their depth of betting options on darts are second to none. Ladbrokes’ odds are very competitive too, and they also sponsor the World Series Of Darts. If you are considering opening an account solely for darts betting, you could do a lot worse than choosing Ladbrokes.

A number of the major bookmakers offer live streaming on some of the biggest darts tournaments. Bet365, Paddy Power and William Hill all offer live streaming on certain darts tournaments. Paddy Power are well worth checking out for the wide range of specials they offer on darts. William Hill sponsor the PDC World Championship, while BetVictor sponsor the World Matchplay. All the above mentioned bookies have their strengths and weaknesses, so make sure to shop around for the one best suited to you.

How To Bet On Darts

For the beginner, it can be a daunting task choosing how to bet on darts. Most stick to the tried and tested straight match betting, when you bet on either player just to win. However, it would be foolish just to limit yourself to match betting with the huge amount of other options available. Ladbrokes have up to 38 markets available for individual matches, the most of any bookmaker.

Betting options with Ladbrokes include correct score, most 180s, total 180s and handicap betting. You can also bet on whether either player will have a 170 finish or 9 dart finish. Ladbrokes also have a market called ‘Throwcast’ which allows you to bet on who will win and what their final double will be. If you do decide to have an interest in one of the more obscure markets, make sure to do plenty of research before having a bet.

Another important thing to consider when deciding how to bet on darts are the specials on offer. Again, Ladbrokes are one of the best in the business when it comes to specials for new and existing customers. For example, for each gameweek in the Premier League they offer up to 15 different markets to bet on. These include most 180s, best scoring average and highest checkout (player or match). Paddy Power are also good for their pre and post match enhancements and money back specials, so check them out too.

Before you have a bet on darts, you should always do plenty of research. The more knowledge you have the better, and one of the best sites for darts stats is Dartsdatabase.co.uk. Here you can find info on players from both the BDO and PDC, including latest rankings and recent results. Dartsmad.com is another useful tool for betting on darts as there you can find head to head results between any professional players.

Darts Live Streaming

As we outlined earlier on the page some of the major bookmakers offer live streaming on certain darts events. Most PDC tournaments can be watched live on TV with Sky Sports, Eurosport and ITV showing most matches. The BBC are the BDO’s main partners, and their flagship tournament is the Lakeside World Championship. The likes of Coral, Ladbrokes, William Hill and Betfair all offer live streaming of certain darts tournaments and matches.

PDC Darts

The PDC was formed in 1992 when some of the BDO’s leading starts decided to split from that organisation and form their own. Boxing and snooker supremo Barry Hearn is the current chairman, and thanks to Sky Sports the PDC has grown and grown. Glitz and glamour have replaced pints and cigarettes (on stage at least!) and the top players now earn a huge amount of money.

The best ever player in either code is Phil Taylor, and he is still competing at the highest level. He is undoubtedly in decline now though, and young pretenders like Gary Anderson and Michael Van Gerwen are the ones to beat. Major ranking tournaments include the Premier League, World Matchplay and the biggest one of all, the World Championships.

BDO Darts

The BDO has been left behind by the PDC when it comes to the money that can be earned by the top men. That has seen a steady flow of their best players leaving for the BDO, including the likes of Chisnall and 2014 Champion Stephen Bunting in recent years. Glen Durrant is the dominant force in the BDO at the moment, and he currently holds 3 of the 4 major titles.

He won the World Championship at the Lakeside and he also won the Finder Masters and World Masters. Crowd favourite Daryl Fitton lifted the BDO World Trophy and those are the four tournaments that count in the BDO. The William Hill Grand Slam pits the BDO players against the PDC, and in 10 years only Scott Waites from the BDO has won. That demonstrates the gulf in quality between the two organisations, but money can still be made from betting on both.

The William Hill World Championship is the flagship tournament for the PDC. Every Christmas and New Year the darts takes over the TV, and some of the matches make for brilliant viewing. The main men in recent years have been MVG and Gary Anderson, and they have won each of the last four renewals (2-2).

This year it is MVG who is dominating at the head of the betting for the World Championships. He is a best price of 8/11 with Paddy Power, and there are few players that can match him when he is at his snarling best. However, Gary Anderson is world class on his day too and he is the one player capable of putting the flying Dutchman in his place. He can be backed at 6/1 with BetVictor, and he is our tip for the 2018 PDC World Championship.

The Lakeside World Championship is the tournament that matters in the BDO and it looks a much more open renewal than the PDC version. Scott Waites has won two of the last five and he will be there or thereabouts. Glen Durrant is the current World Champion, and he is the market leader at odds of 7/4. Promising Dutchman Danny Noppert is next best at odds of 7/2 with BetVictor.

The one we like at a good each way price is 2015 victor Scotty ‘Dog’ Mitchell. He has already won a tournament this year and he has also reached two semi-finals. Mitchell knows what it takes to win at Lakeside, and he will be eager to better his performance in 2017. He can be backed at odds of 18/1 with BetVictor, and at that sort of price he has to be worth chancing each way.
