So, which is the best UK betting site for Cycling. Well, to be honest, it was hard to narrow it down to just one. All the major online UK bookies have betting on Cycling, while lots of them have live streaming available for a lot of different Cycling tournaments too.
Our experts have taken all the above into account and a few other things like trustworthiness, customer care and quality of the in-play Cycling betting experience. The results are in and you can check out our list of the top Cycling betting sites in the UK above.
Paddy Power Cycling
Paddy Power is one of the biggest betting sites in the UK and Ireland. They not only have a huge high street presence, but they are also one of the most popular sites for online punters too. One of the key reasons for their popularity is their willingness to put their necks on the line with some superb sports betting promotions, including for cycling.
They also have an impressive selection of cycling betting markets available too, including outright, race winner, match betting and lots more. Paddy Power usually runs plenty of promotions for the Grand Tours, in particular, the Tour de France. They are famed for their publicity stunts too, like their tongue in cheek ‘Clean Urine Available’ stand that they erected when the Giro D’Italia passed through Ireland.

An example of the type of cycling betting sites promotions you can expect from Paddy Power was the one they ran in 2018. Wittily named the ‘Inhaler Insurance’ offer, Paddy Power were offering money back as a free bet if your outright or stage winner bet finished 2nd to Chris Froome (max £25). You can also expect regular enhanced each way terms, boosted cycling odds and lots of other cycling betting promotions if you sign up with Paddy Power.
Boylesports Cycling
When we carried out our research for this review, we were surprised that Boylesports were one of the best bookies around for betting on cycling. When we checked the Vuelta outright betting prices (in play after stage 4), Boylesports were the only bookmaker offering 4 places (1/5 odds) for each way bets.
The vast majority of bookies were paying out only on 3 places, while one betting site was only paying out on 2 places! Their acca insurance and loyalty acca offers can be used for cycling wagers too and that’s why Boylesports make it into the top 3 of our best Cycling betting sites list.

Cycling Free Bets and Promotions
To be honest, it isn’t that easy to find cycling promotions at sports betting sites as it is nowhere near as popular with punters as football or horse racing. However, some betting sites do run general promotions that can be used for cycling bets. For example, many bookies, like Betfair for example, have ‘Odds Boost’ offers that can be used to increase the odds of cycling wagers.
The 2020 Olympics isn’t too far away now either and there are sure to be lots of cycling betting promotions for both the track and road events. There are 22 different cycling events, including BMX for the first time and the Madison returns too. There will be lots of betting opportunities and hopefully lots of Olympic cycling betting promotions too.
- Cycling Money Back Specials – Get your stake back, usually as a free bet, if your selection finishes 2nd to a certain rider.
- Cycling Odds Boost – Betfair has an odds boost promotion that can be used to enhance the odds of your cycling wager.
- Extra Place Specials: Occasionally bookmakers, like Betfred for example, will offer extra places for each way bets on individual stages at the Grand Tours.
- Acca Insurance – Boylesports have an all sports, including cycling, Acca Insurance offer (5+ Legs) where you get your stake back (max £20) if one leg lets you down.
- Acca Loyalty Offer – Another all sports offer from Boylesports where you get a weekly free £5 acca bet if you place 5 accas with 5+ legs (min odds 3/1) between Monday-Sunday.
Always read the terms and conditions to make sure you qualify for the promotions. Odds and wagering requirements may apply too.

At the time of writing the Vuelta a Espana was in the early stages and Irish eyes were smiling. Nico Roche led the way in the GC and wore the Red Jersey, while Sam Bennett was winning in the sprints. The race will really take shape when they hit the mountains though and the likes of Roglic, Lopez and Colombian climber Nairo Quintana will likely come to the fore. You can check out the latest and best odds for the General Classification Winner below…
Vuelta Winner Odds 2019
Rider | Bookmaker | Odds |
Primoz Roglic | Betway | 11/8 |
Miguel Angel Lopez | William Hill | 9/4 |
Nairo Quintana | Boylesports | 11/2 |
Rigoberto Uran | Betfred | 12/1 |
Alejandro Valverde | Unibet | 12/1 |
Cycling Betting Useful Tips
Like any sport, cycling is unpredictable and making a profit from betting on cycling is far from easy. Track events are a bit easier to read, but on the big Tours, some of the stage races can produce shock winners, especially in the mountains.
Although we can’t guarantee that you’ll make money if you follow the advice outlined below, our experts reckon that it will massively enhance the prospects of a profit. The golden rule is to always find the best odds for every cycling bet you place. That way, when you do win you know you are maximising your returns.
How To Bet On Cycling – Some Top Tips
- News/Rumours/Social Media – Social media can be a goldmine for information on riders, including updates on injuries and tactical clues.
- Confidence – It quickly becomes apparent who is on form after a stage or two at the Grand Tours and the sooner you spot them, the better chance you can beat the odds and get on before anyone else.
- Stage Profile: Flat stages suit sprinters, hilly stages suit breakaway/versatile riders while in the mountains, only the strongest climbers will survive!
- Weather Watch: Some stages are decided on the descent from climbs and if the roads are wet, the descenders with the best technique have a big advantage, Nibali for example.
- Experience/Course Form: Watch out for climbs/stages where a rider has previously performed well as lightning can often strike twice in cycling.

The Biggest Cycling Betting Events
The Grand Tours are the races that every cyclist dreams about winning. The number one target for most is the Tour de France. This gruelling race is a true test of every element that makes a top cyclist. Strength, endurance and an ability to push through the pain barrier at altitude are all required if a rider has designs on winning any of the Grand Tours.
From a punting perspective, the Grand Tours are where you are most likely to get cycling betting promotions. There is often value to be found in many of the less well known markets too, find out more in our brief guides to betting on the world’s biggest cycling race below…
Betting On the Tour de France

Every June, for three weeks, the entire Nation of France is fixated on the race simply known as ‘Le Tour’. This energy sapping 21 stage race sees the riders take on a variety of different challenges, including steep mountain climbs (and finishes), individual and team time trials, exhilarating bunch sprint finishes and occasionally even craziness on cobblestones!
There is a huge amount of markets to choose from when betting on the Tour De France. If you spend enough time researching there is often great value to be found. Less well-known markets like King of The Mountains, Points Classification Winner and Young Rider winner can all provide betting opportunities. Match betting is another market worth checking out, as you will discover later on! No matter what bet you are planning on placing, make sure to watch out for the following Tour de France betting promotions…
TDF Betting Promotions*

Cycling Markets and Betting Terms
In this section, our cycling betting experts explain how some of the most popular cycling betting markets work. Everyone will be familiar with simply betting on a rider to win a race outright or a stage, but match betting markets are worth a second glance too. Check out our brief guide to betting on cycling below…
Cycling Betting: Outright Race Winner
You can bet on the outright winner of a race before it starts, or in-play. If you want to get the biggest odds, usually you will get them on the pre-race outright markets. This isn’t always the case though, as if a rider performs poorly in the first couple of stages, his odds will drift. If you fancy a rider to make a comeback from a slow start, backing him when he is after having a bad day is a sure fire way to get the juiciest odds. Each way betting is also available in the outright betting market, while some bookies offer odds on riders to achieve a Podium, Top 5 or Top 10 finish too.
Cycling Betting: Stage Winner
Grand Tours like the Giro and Vuelta are broken down into individual races called stages. You can place bets on each stage and markets are usually formed the evening before the stage starts. As we already outlined earlier, the profile of a stage will have a huge influence on the odds. Predominantly flat stages are usually won by sprinters, while hilly stages are the domain of all rounders like Peter Sagan.
In the mountains, the main General Classification winners usually dominate but sometimes a breakaway can succeed. This makes betting on the Stage winner in the mountain stages a risky business. One piece of advice worth following is to always find the best price. Shop around, as failing to locate the best odds has a knock on effect when it comes to profit margins in the long term.
Cycling Match Betting
If you prefer placing less risky bets at shorter odds, Cycling match betting could be worth giving a shot. Bookies pair two cyclists, usually for a stage, and you bet on one to beat the other. The odds are usually around 5/6 v 11/10 or something similar, depending on the matchup of course. Sometimes bookies take their eyes off the ball in this market and if they are going to make a mistake, it will most likely be when they price up match betting markets.

Cycling Odds: Don’t Take Second Best!
Tiny differences in odds can translate into massive differences in profit over the long run. You may not think there is a lot of difference between backing a winner at 13/8 or 6/4, but over time and multiple bets a difference of 12.5% will really show up on your overall profits. What makes it harder is that no bookie can be relied upon to have the best cycling odds every single time.
The only option is to shop around and make sure you take the best odds going for each bet you place. Paddy Power is one of the best betting sites for cycling promotions, but when it comes to outright betting odds Betway usually has better prices.
For example, the 2019 Vuelta favourite Primoz Roglic was 11/8 with Betway, while with Paddy Power he was 11/10. A £100 win bet with Betway would generate a profit of £137.50, £27.50 more than you would get from Paddy Power. If you take a sample size of 50 winning bets at those prices, the difference in profits is well over £1,000 as you can see from the table below.
Bookie | Winning Bets | Total Profit |
Paddy Power | 50 x (£100 @ 11/10) | £5,500 |
Betway | 50 x (£100 @ 11/8) | £6,875 |

Cycling In-Play Betting
Live cycling betting is available for all the biggest races throughout the season. Once they are broadcast live on television, in-play betting markets will be available. Live betting on the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a Espana can be a thrilling way to wager.
In stages where breakaways are likely you can sometimes get huge prices that shorten dramatically if a rider makes it into the break. This puts you in a strong position and as the stages are so long, you will have ample opportunity to lay the bet off at much shorter odds. The majority of bookies have in-play cycling betting available, Paddy Power, Betfair and Boylesports are among the best.
Live Cycling Streaming Betting Sites
Unfortunately, as far as we could see, no UK betting sites currently had live streaming of any cycling races. Plenty of bookies have live streaming for other sports, including horse racing, betting on football, tennis, baseball, cricket, and even table tennis! Hopefully, the situation changes in the future and if any UK bookies do start streaming cycling races live, you’ll hear about it at My Betting Bonus first.

Cycling Mobile Betting
Mobile betting is so popular now! Every bookie has realised that huge numbers of punters now bet more on mobile than desktop. If a betting site hasn’t got a quality mobile app, chances are the customer will go elsewhere. Some bookies are now targeting the mobile betting market almost exclusively.
Live mobile cycling betting is available on the LeoVegas Sport mobile app. However, if you use your desktop for betting too, LeoVegas may not be the choice. A bookie like Betfair or Unibet that have solid apps and desktop sites would be a better selection.

Cycling Betting Sites FAQs
Is it legal to bet online on Cycling in the UK and Ireland?
Yes. It is 100% legal to place bets on cycling in the UK and Ireland. Nearly every bookie has odds available for the big races like the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a Espana. Just make sure the bookie has a valid licence, preferably issued by the UK Gambling Commission.
Do any betting sites have live Cycling streams?
At the time of writing, we couldn’t locate any UK bookies that had live streaming of cycling available. Plenty had streaming of other sports. For horse racing, streaming is available once you place a bet of a minimum value on a race (£1 bet William Hill). Streaming of most other sports requires a positive account balance or that you have placed a bet in the previous 24 hours.
What UK Betting Site has the best odds for Cycling?
You are probably sick of hearing us say this, but finding the best odds is absolutely vital. And the answer to the above question is that there is no bookie that consistently has the best cycling betting odds. Depending on the market, any one of our top cycling betting sites could have the best price. The key is to shop around. It is the only way to ensure you get the best value for every bet you place.
