If you are looking for a Tour de France betting site with quality odds, lots of promotions and markets and a decent mobile app, you won’t go far wrong with the bookies that make our list above. They all have Tour de France betting available, both pre-race and in-play betting, but the one that stands out from the competition is Unibet. Paddy Power, Betfair, and SportNation are all worth checking out too, but when it comes to betting on the Tour de France, Unibet is at the front of the peloton.

Tour de France Unibet Live Betting Boost!

We rate Unibet as one of the top UK Tour de France betting sites. And one of the best betting sites in the UK in general. Not only do they have a superb sign-up offer (£40 risk-free first bet), they also run some very nice specials for the Tour de France. Last year they had a Profit Boost promotion on all live bets placed on Stage 19 of the Tour de France. If you placed a live bet on the stage at odds of 1.4 (2/5) or bigger and it won, Unibet boosted your winnings by a very healthy 10%.

unibet banner and logo

You didn’t need to opt-in for this promotion, all you had to do was place an in-running bet on Stage 19. The maximum stake was £25 and the minimum odds to qualify were 2/5 (1.4). The maximum earnable bonus per customer was £1000 and free bet tokens were excluded from this offer, as were wagers that were cashed out early. Keep a close eye on the Unibet promotions page for any similar offers for this year’s Tour de France.

Paddy Power Tour de France Money Back Specials

As most punters know, Paddy Power is the King of money back specials. They have offers like this for a whole host of sporting events, and a couple of years ago they had an excellent money back special that ran for the whole duration of the Tour de France. If you backed a cyclist for any stage or outright and they came 2nd behind Chris Froome, Paddy Power refunded your losing stake as a free bet.

If you placed an outright winner bet before the start of the Tour (max stake £25) and they ended up runner up in the GC behind Froome, you got your money back. The same applied to pre-race bets placed on every stage. Unfortunately, Froome failed to win a stage and only managed 3rd overall, so Paddy Power escaped lightly on this occasion. They will be sure to put their necks on the line again for the next renewal, so watch out for even more Paddy Power Tour de France promotions next year.

2020 Tour de France Odds & Tip

The 2020 Tour de France looks open in comparison to recent years. Chris Froome’s dominance of the race was ended by his Team Sky teammate Geraint Thomas in 2018, while Team Sky’s winning run was ended by Egan Bernal of Team INEOS in 2019. Colombian cyclist Bernal had over a minute to spare over his rivals last season and he is the current favourite for the 2020 Tour de France at odds of 5/2 with Unibet. Aged just 23 years old, Bernal could be set for a long period of dominance, but anything can happen in this race and it usually does.

The man who could challenge Bernal for glory, if he competes, is Dutch rider Tom Dumoulin. He finished 2nd overall in 2018 and won the Giro in 2017 before finishing 2nd in 2018. He had an interrupted 2019 but hopefully, he gets a clear run at the race in 2020. The Dutchman is an excellent time trialist with the ability to mix it with the best climbers in the mountain stages. Those attributes should help him challenge for glory and he is our tip for the 2020 Tour de France at odds of 6/1 with SportNation.

2020 Tour de France Outright Betting Tip: Tom Dumoulin @ 6/1 SportNation

Tour de France Betting Advice

Making a few quid from betting on the Tour de France is not easy, but it is more than possible. With over 100 riders lining up at the start of every stage, it can be hard to narrow the field for certain stages. However, you can give yourself a better chance of landing a winner or two if you follow the Tour de France betting advice imparted by our cycling betting experts below. We can’t guarantee you winners, but if you take heed of the tips below you’ll give yourself the best chance of turning a Tour de France profit this year.

Tour de France Betting Tips

  1. Stage Characteristics Crucial:  For the most part, sprint specialists dominate flat stages, climbers come to the fore in the mountains and hilly stages can go either way. Avoid backing climbers on flat stages and vice versa. On hilly stages, aggressive all-rounders like Peter Sagan and Greg Van Avermaet can often be worth backing.
  2. Tour de France Weather Watch: Most of the time, flat stages are taken by sprinters but very occasionally a breakaway can succeed and produce a big priced winner. Crosswinds are usually the reason for shock results as they can cause big splits in the peloton, even on flat terrain. If you are on the hunt for a winner at bigger odds, watch out for windy conditions on the flat stages.
  3. Schedule: Riding in one Grand Tour a year is tough enough but riding in all 3 is a huge ask. If you are having an outright bet in the Tour de France avoid backing cyclists who went well in the Giro D’Italia. No rider has completed the Giro/Tour double since the legendary Marco ‘Il Pirata’ Pantani in 1998.

Tour de France Betting Markets

As we already mentioned earlier, picking the winner of individual stages at the Tour de France is very difficult. Sprint stages give punters the best chance of finding a winning bet, but in the mountains, anything can happen, especially with breakaways. In the next few sections, we explain how to bet on the Tour de France and we briefly look at some of the most popular markets.

Tour de France Outright Markets

There are a few different outright markets you can bet on in the Tour de France. Everyone is familiar with the Outright GC (Yellow Jersey) winner, but there are a few more outright markets and sometimes you can find serious value if you carry out enough research and study. Below are some of the key outright markets that punters can bet on in the Tour de France.

Tour de France Stage Winner

With well over 100 riders taking part, stage betting can be very difficult to profit from. If you are considering investing, we think your best bet is to only back riders in the flat sprint stages. More often than not the sprint stages can only be won by five or six different riders and while odds are not exactly huge it does represent your best chance finding a winner.

On hilly stages look for riders who had previously been in breakaways that were reeled back in. Those cyclists are usually targeting a stage win rather than the overall classification and you will be rewarded at big odds if you find the right man to back.

Tour de France Race Match/Group Betting

If you want to narrow the field even further you can get involved in Match or Group betting for the Tour de France. This market is when bookies group cyclists together (usually in groups of 3) and you bet on which of those cyclists will achieve the best finishing position. Match/Group betting is available for the overall GC winner market and most new bookies as well as long-established ones, including Betfair and Paddy Power, will form match or group betting markets for each individual stage.

Betfair Tour de France: Live Betting Available For Every Stage!

Given that each stage in the Tour de France is usually well over 100 miles long, it is no surprise that punters like to bet in-play on the race. If you are planning on placing live bets on the Tour de France the majority of our favourite betting sites cater to your needs. If a breakaway happens the odds will change rapidly and dramatically and that is why you need a live betting suite that enables you to get a bet on as quickly as possible.

We really liked Betfair’s Tour de France live betting suite. You simply click on the ‘In-Play’ tab to access all of Betfair’s live betting events. Once the race starts you will be able to click on ‘Cycling’ and that will take you to the Tour de France live betting page. It only takes seconds to place a bet so you shouldn’t miss out on any prices once you are quick enough. If you want to enjoy live betting on the Tour de France, Betfair should be your go to bookie.

Tour de France Betting Sites Live Streaming

Live streaming of the Tour de France is not currently available with any of our top bookies. If you want to bet and watch the race live, you’ll be able to catch every stage live on satellite and terrestrial TV. A couple of our Tour de France betting sites like Unibet and Betfair have live streaming of some of the lesser races throughout the season but as of yet, none have live Tour de France streaming available.

Tour de France Mobile Betting

If you, like so many other punters, bet mostly on your mobile phone then you will want to find a Tour de France bookie that has a quality and reliable mobile app. Thankfully, the days of slow and badly designed apps seem to be over and the majority of our top Tour de France betting sites have mobile apps that are fit for purpose.

One of the best Tour de France mobile betting experiences we had was when we tried the Unibet mobile app. They have native apps for iOS and Android and they can be downloaded from the App Store and the Play Store respectively. Users of other devices can use the Unibet web app which also works smoothly and is easy to use. The Unibet Android app is just 7.0M and requires Android 5.0 or later. The Unibet Apple App is 29.2MB, requires iOS 8.0 or later and works well on iPod Touch, iPad, and iPhones.

There you have it. A comprehensive rundown of all things Tour de France. Good luck with your bets! And remember, when the fun stops, stop.

Tour de France Betting Sites FAQs

Which Tour de France betting site has the best promotions?

If you are on the hunt for Tour de France promotions you won’t go too far wrong with Paddy Power and Unibet. They both ran a couple of nice specials for previous renewals and hopefully they will have a lot more Tour de France promotions for both new and existing customers in the future.

What Tour de France betting site has the best odds?

This question is tough to answer because of the variation in odds between different bookies for the Tour de France. For the General Classification Market, as you can see from our odds comparison table back up the page, Unibet was best price about all the leading contenders when compared to SportNation. However, it is always worth shopping around to ensure that you aren’t missing out on a better price.

What Tour de France betting site has live streaming?

As we already briefly mentioned earlier, no Tour de France betting site currently have the rights to offer live Tour de France streaming. If you sign up with Betfair or Unibet you’ll be able to stream thousands of sporting events live every year via your desktop and mobile devices but unfortunately the Tour de France is off limits for now.
