So, after endless hours of research, looking at only bookies with a UKGC licence, we have reached a conclusion. For punters who want to bet on the Championship, 10Bet is the number one option. The up and coming UK online bookmaker has more Championship promotions than any other site. In fact, they have promotions for a wide range of sports and their odds are pretty decent too. Check out the final list of the best UK Championship betting sites above.

10Bet Championship Betting

10bet championship betting

It may be a surprising result, but when it comes to betting on the Championship 10Bet top the charts. There are a number of reasons that resulted in them securing top spot, the main one being the regular promotions they run that apply to Championship bets. You can find out more about some of the best 10Bet Championship promotions in the next couple of sections…

10Bet Championship Promotion: Bore Draw? £10 Free Bet!

There are few things worse than placing a losing bet. However, it adds insult to injury if you bet on a game, watch it and it ends up being a dour 0-0 draw. However, if you place a minimum £5 pre-match bet on Exact Score or First/Last/Anytime Goalscorer and the match end scoreless, 10Bet will give you your stake back as a free bet, up to a maximum of £10. Some terms and conditions do apply, check them out below…

10Bet Bore Draw? £10 Free Bet Promotion Key T&Cs

10Bet Championship 3+ Leg Acca Boost (up to 50%!)

Another excellent Championship betting promotion on offer from 10Bet is their 3+ Leg acca boost offer. If you place a winning Championship acca with 10Bet with at least three legs (minimum odds 1/2 (1.5) per leg, you’ll be in for a tasty bonus. The size of the bonus is dependent on the number of legs, so the bigger your acca, the bigger your bonus will be.

The 10Bet Championship Acca Boost bonus starts at a modest 2% boost to trebles, but if you manage to land an acca with 16 legs, you’ll be in for a whopping 50% bonus with 10Bet. This offer doesn’t just apply to Championship accas, you can combine selections from a number of leagues and sports.

It applies to pre-match acca and system bets only and the maximum bonus, no matter how much you win, is £5000. If you place a winning system bet there must be a minimum of 4 legs with odds of 1/2 or bigger per selection to qualify for the bonus. Check 10Bet for the full terms and conditions of this excellent offer.

Paddy Power Championship Betting

10Bet did come out on top in our battle of the best Championship betting sites, but Paddy Power finished a very close second. Known for their innovative promotions, slick marketing, and sometimes controversial advertising campaigns, there is one Paddy Power Championship betting promotion that is worth a second look. You can find out more below…

Paddy Power Championship Acca Insurance Offer

This is another acca offer, except instead of being a boost type special, this is an Acca Insurance offer. If you place a 4+leg football acca (including on Championship) and 1 leg agonisingly lets you down, Paddy Power ease the pain by giving you your initial stake back as a free bet.

This offer applies to accas placed on the top 4 tiers of English and Scottish Football, as well as all the major European leagues and tournaments. Accas including International selections (friendlies, Nations League, Euro and World Cup) also qualify for this excellent Paddy Power promotional offer. Pre-match bets only and max free bet is £10. Check Paddy Power for full terms and conditions.

Championship Free Bets and Promotions

So, if you are on the lookout for Championship betting sites with good promotions, what can you expect to find? The majority of UK bookies stick to a template for their Championship betting promotions and most push their acca boost or acca insurance specials. However, you will come across some other interesting Championship betting promotions from time to time. Below we outline some of the more common Championship betting specials.

  1. Championship Goalscorer promotions: For certain Championship Fixtures Betfred will double the odds if your winning first goalscorer bet scores a 2nd (Double Delight). If they score a hat trick it means triple the odds, triple the winnings and the promotion is called Hat Trick Heaven.
  2. Championship Money Back Specials – For Championship matches that are televised many bookies refund losing bets if there is a certain occurrence or result in a game. For example, 10Bet refund exact score and goalscorer bets up to £10 if a Championship match finishes 0-0!
  3. Championship Acca Boost Offers: Loads of betting sites run acca boost offers, usually ranging from 3+ legs to 5+ legs. If accas are your thing, shop around to find the best offer currently available.
  4. Championship Odds Boost Offers – From time to time betting sites like Betfair and 888sport run enhanced odds offers. Sometimes they have specials like enhanced prices on a Championship double or treble and you can get great value on occasion. Don’t just back every offer of this type blindly though, the key to making a profit is being selective.

Although the Championship is massively popular, finding relevant specials and promotions isn’t easy. Lots of bookies have football specials, but not all apply to the English Championship. That is why it is so important to double check the terms and conditions of every promotion you see.

2017/18 Wolves Cardiff City
2016/17 Newcastle Brighton

Let’s not forget the playoff winners. Here’s who went up via the playoffs in those years:

Championship Betting Odds – Leeds Can Lead The Way

championship team badges

In the past few seasons some seriously decent teams have won promotion from the Championship. Bournemouth showed it was possible to play good football and stay up for multiple seasons and Wolves have followed suit. In the 2019/20 Championship one team plays a brand of football superior to the rest. Coached by Argentinian technician Marcelo Bielsa, Leeds were desperately unlucky to miss out on promotion in 2018/19.

Leeds were compelling to watch last at times. They played the very definition of sexy football, but their defensive vulnerabilities meant that they were always liable to concede goals. They look to have sorted that aspect out so far this season and they conceded very few goals in their opening few games. If they shore things up at the back Bielsa’s expansive style will prove too much for most teams to handle. Leeds can earn promotions and we fancy them to win the Championship at 11/8 with Betway.

Championship Betting Sites – Our Advice

If you thought the Premier League was unpredictable, you ain’t seen nothing yet! The term ‘anyone can beat anyone’ is overused at times, but in the Championship it really is the case.

Every week there are shocks and upsets and one of the keys to turning a profit from betting on the Championship is spotting when these surprising results are most likely to happen.

It isn’t easy to do, but if you follow the advice given by our football betting experts in our next section you will be well on your way to finding the best value for all your Championship winning bets.

How To Bet On The Championship – Keys To Making A Profit

  1. Squad News:  Look out for updates on injuries, suspensions and other issues. Twitter can be a good resource for information from lower league clubs. For example, if a stomach bug hits a League 1 or 2 squad, you’ll probably hear about it via social media first.
  2. Recent Results:  As with any sport, confidence plays a massive part in football. Players thrive when winning (and struggle when losing) games so don’t be afraid to jump on the bandwagon even if a team has won 3 or 4 games in a row.
  3. Head to Head: In football bogey teams are a real thing. Some sides just cannot beat certain teams or win at certain stadiums/grounds. Researching head to head stats can reveal interesting patterns, not only for results but also for goal-scorers.
  4. Championship Betting Promotions and Odds: Take advantage of as many promotions as you can and always make sure to find the best odds. Following this advice not only maximises returns, it can also minimise losses depending on the promotion.
  5. Watch The Market: If odds shorten dramatically on a team (or lengthen) it can often be a sign that some significant team news has emerged. Try to latch on to market moves as early as possible because the bigger the odds you get, the stronger your position is.

EFL Championship Betting Markets

So, where do you start when betting on the English Championship? There are a huge amount of markets to choose from at Championship betting sites, far too many for us to cover all of them on this page. There are three main categories, outright Championship betting markets, pre-match Championship markets and in-play Championship betting markets. They can be found at both established bookies and new betting sites. If you want to know more about the key Championship markets most popular with punters, check out the next few sections…

Championship Betting: Outright

The market most punters will be familiar with is the Championship outright winner market. Many bookies also provide Championship promotions odds before the season starts, and you can also bet on who will be relegated. Betting is available on both those markets when the Championship season is underway too.

Other interesting outright markets include Top Scorer, Player of The Season and William Hill even have betting available on a ‘Top Half’ or ‘Bottom Half’ finish. Betfair have a ‘To Stay Up’ Championship outright market, while you can bet on ‘Who Will Finish Bottom of the Championship’ with Paddy Power. As you can see, if you want to have an outright Championship bet you are spoiled for choice!

Championship Betting: Match (1X2) /Handicap Markets

The 1X2 or Match Result market is the most popular pre-match Championship betting option for most punters. For every Championship match there are three possible outcomes; Home win (1), Draw (X) or Away Win (2). This even applies to play-off matches because 1X2 Championship bets are settled on the result after 90 minutes. Extra time and/or penalties do not count.

Handicap betting is basically the same as 1X2 betting. The difference is that one team gets a head start, while the other receives a handicap. Depending on match result odds, the handicap varies. If there is a heavy favourite, their handicap will usually be -2 or -3 goals. The outsider receives a head start of the same value and odds are adjusted accordingly.

You can bet on the draw too in the handicap market and to win, you must predict the exact winning margin. For example, say Leeds are playing Cardiff at Elland Road and the handicap is Leeds -1. If you back the draw you need Leeds to win by exactly 1 goal to collect.

Championship: Goalscorer Markets

The Premier League is famous for producing goals, but the second tier isn’t far behind when it comes to goal mouth action. It is hardly surprising that betting on Championship goalscorer markets is popular with football punters and there are three main markets to pick from. You can back a player to score first, to score last or to score at any time.

One thing to remember is that goalscorer bets count for 90 minutes only and own goals don’t count. If you place a first or last goalscorer bet and the first or last goal is an own goal, if your player scored the 2nd goal (1st Goalscorer bets) or 2nd last goal (last goalscorer bets) you will get paid out as a winner. Also, look out for promotions like Betfred’s Double Delight/Hat Trick Hero offers to get a huge bonus on winning Championship first goalscorer bets.

Championship In Play Betting

Betting in play on the Championship has become extremely popular with UK football punters. In fact, some bookies really promote their in-play betting suites to try and attract those who concentrate on live betting on the Championship. Some bookies have excellent in-play suites on desktop, but their mobile live betting product lets them down.

If odds don’t update regularly and it takes an age to place a bet, it completely defeats the purpose of live betting. In-play Championship betting markets are very volatile and odds can change in the blink of an eye. Paddy Power’s desktop live betting suite is worth checking out, but if you bet mostly on mobile then consider the likes of William Hill.

Championship Betting: Don’t Compromise on Odds!

We are fed up repeating ourselves on this subject, but there is a good reason for that. For any punter serious about making a profit, finding the best Championship betting odds for every wager you place is an absolute must. Backing winners is far from easy, so when you do strike gold you should ensure that your returns are as big as possible.

For casual punters, the difference between backing a winner at 11/10 (2.1) and 1/1 (2.0) is negligible. For a £20 stake you’ll get £21 profit at 11/10 and £20 profit at 1/1, a difference of a quid. However, if you take a sample of 200 bets the importance of finding the best odds quickly becomes apparent. Simply put, just find the best odds. You definitely won’t regret it. For Championship outright bets, Betfair and 10Bet are worth a second look.

Championship Live Streaming Betting Sites

Skybet sponsor the Championship but even they do not have streaming rights for Championship matches. Some UK bookies like Bet365 have streaming of other leagues from around Europe, Asia and South America but at the time of writing no betting site had Championship live streaming available. If any UK betting sites do secure live Championship streaming, you’ll hear about it at My Betting Bonus first.

Championship Mobile App Betting

Most old school punters stick to placing bets on their desktop or laptop device. However, the next generation are different and for them, mobile betting is where it is at. In fairness to most UK bookies, most have realised this and put serious effort into improving the mobile betting experience. However, some bookies are now concentrating on attracting mobile customers and LeoVegas are an excellent example.

While some bookies focus on producing slick desktop sites and take shortcuts on mobile, LeoVegas are the complete opposite. They are committed to making inroads on the mobile betting market and betting on mobile with LeoVegas is a pleasure and a UK site you should consider.

Championship Betting Sites FAQs

Is it legal to bet online on Championship in the UK and Ireland?

Once your chosen bookie has a valid licence, preferably issued by the UK Gambling commission, you can bet legally on the Championship. Other licenses that you can rely on are issued by the Malta and Gibraltar Commissions. Check our in-depth reviews before signing up with a bookie as we put licensing details and privacy policies under the microscope.

Do any betting sites have live Championship streams?

No, at the time of writing no UK betting site had secured the rights to stream Championship matches live. Even Skybet, who sponsor the league, do not have live Championship streaming available. Bet365, Paddy Power and William Hill all have live streaming of multiple sports available, including from football leagues around the world. However, Championship live streaming remains unavailable.

What UK Betting Site has the best Championship odds?

As we explained earlier, if you want to increase your prospects of profiting from betting on the Championship it is absolutely vital to find the best odds. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to achieve this goal. The only way to do it is to check as many bookies as possible as prices vary considerably from betting site to betting site.
