Take Advantage of Wimbledon Betting Bonuses and Promotions

We’re all about sports bonuses and promotions. At first, these can be confusing, but this is where we step in to help you guys out.

We love Wimbledon betting sites, and there’s a lot to be said for taking advantage of the following common promotions:

  • Welcome/signup offers
  • Free bets
  • Matched deposits
  • Enhanced odds

How Does a Welcome Bonus Work?

If you’ve ever been to Wimbledon, you know how friendly and welcoming everyone is. Think of a bookie’s welcome bonus as a warm blanket; one that wraps around you after you’ve camped overnight to make sure you get into the gates of SW19 for the day.

Some of these bonuses are incredibly valuable, and you shouldn’t overlook them. If you register with a bookie without claiming the welcome/signup bonus, you won’t be able to get it again.

Usually, you’ll find these on the main page of a bookie’s site. Those in our above list all have welcome bonuses attached to them. Some will require you to use a specific bonus code when registering.

The registration process is as simple as:

  1. Choose a bookie/offer from our list
  2. Fill in your personal information
  3. Satisfy the bonus terms and conditions
  4. Reap the rewards

Many sites offer free bets as part of their bonuses, while others will promote matched deposits. Confused as to what these are? Keep reading!

Wimbledon Free Bets

You might see these marketed as any of the following, or something similar:

  • Free bets
  • Free credits
  • Bet and Get

No matter the terminology, tennis free bets are awesome, especially when they’re Wimbledon free bets! “Bet and Get” offers are cool, but some bookies will provide you with free bets once you’re registered, without having to even deposit or risk your own funds.

An example of a typical bet would be “Bet £10 and Get £20”. So, once you’re registered and have claimed the bonus, drop a tenner on your favourite player. Once that bet settles, you should see the bonus in your account. This could be the full £20 or there may be 2 x £10 free bets waiting for you.

Be careful of minimum odds requirements for any type of offers. This is a very common prerequisite and is nothing to be afraid of. Common odds are ½ (1.5), but the exact minimum odds will be in the terms and conditions.

Matched Deposits

Matched deposits aren’t solely used as a welcome bonus. As the tennis season starts and the major tournaments start to kick in, you may see tailored matched deposit offers for each one.

Let’s run through an example at Wimbledon betting sites so you know how they work. Say bet365 are offering a “100% matched deposit up to £100” for Wimbledon:

  1. Register with bet365, if you haven’t already done so. Don’t forget to use the signup page or enter the necessary promo code, if applicable.
  2. Deposit an amount up to £100 — you can deposit more; however, you will only receive £100 as a maximum.
  3. Place the necessary qualifying bets. The value of these vary but could be the same amount as the deposit, 2x or 3x, as examples. Don’t forget to meet the minimum odds requirements.
  4. Usually, your bonus is granted to you at this point.
  5. For any winnings from the offer to be withdrawn, you are likely required to meet the wagering requirements.
  6. Once all the bets are settled and conditions are met, withdraw your winnings.

Minimum Odds Requirements — Wimbledon Betting Sites

Always read the terms and conditions for all bonuses, not just matched deposits. These are very common nowadays and not abiding by these will forfeit a bonus.

Note that the exact minimum odds will be in the terms and conditions. You can always hop on to live chat to confirm this if you’re in doubt. The odds on your confirmed bet slip are the ones that meet the minimum, not the odds when the match starts.

Wagering Requirements

This is an area where many bettors slip up. The majority of Wimbledon betting sites bonuses require you to wager through a certain factor before you can withdraw any winnings from that bonus.

For example, a 100% matched deposit up to £50 may have a wagering requirement of 3x. This means you need to place bets of £150 (3x £50) before you withdraw any winnings. It’s only fair though since, otherwise, the bookie is just giving you free cash from making a deposit.

Wimbledon Enhanced Odds

Enhanced odds is something bookmakers turn on and off just like the Pimms taps do supplying Henman Hill with a refreshing beverage.

In order to draw punters to certain bets during Wimbledon, bookies will enhance certain odds above competitive prices. This means you’re more likely to place a bet with that bookie than their competitors. Some excellent value can be had here, especially when it’s on a double.

Look out for these at the very beginning of the tournament and when it starts to heat up towards the end of the two weeks.

Using Betfair as a Wimbledon Betting Site

As one of the pioneers of online betting, Betfair gets our seal of approval for betting on Wimbledon. We love how easy it is to place bets with Betfair and how competitive it remains with its pricing.

Some bookies are stubborn when it comes to their odds, but Betfair seems to consistently push to offer the best tennis odds, especially during Wimbledon. When you add this to its live streaming for some of the world’s largest ATP events, Betfair is an excellent place to go for tennis betting.

Keep an eye out on the tennis front page for the daily boosts — at the time of writing, these are clearly found towards the top right of the tennis betting area. Watch these like a hawk since once a certain amount of money has been thrown at these, Betfair is likely to drop them.

All About Wimbledon and Tennis Betting in the UK

Wimbledon seems to flash by our eyes every year. Although there are plenty of other major tournaments to keep you occupied, Wimbledon does seem to be the pinnacle.

When is Wimbledon?

You’ll know when it’s coming since it starts two weeks after the Queen’s Club Championships, which is seen as a warm-up event for the “big one.” Usually, it starts on the last Monday in June or the first Monday in July. With so much organisation going into the event, dates are released a year in advance — obviously, the sole reason for this is for tennis betting.

Tennis Power in the UK

As Brits, we’ve had to wait decades — from the 30s — to mirror the success of the iconic Fred Perry. Although the likes of Sue Barker and Roger Taylor had success since then, it wasn’t until when Henman and Rusedski started to climb the ranks that British tennis could hope once again.

Along stepped Andy Murray, the laidback Scot with a Dunblane story to tell. Climbing to the top of the world rankings and winning Wimbledon, Murray seems to have opened the doors for a flood of tennis interest to develop in the UK — Johanna Konta has sprung from nowhere to rise the ranks in women’s tennis.

This mirrors into the strength of the tennis betting markets for UK bookies. As more and more interest grows in tennis in the UK, the bookies promote the sport more and offer us much better prices and bonuses.

Wimbledon Betting Tips — What Are the Best Tennis Bets?

You’re spoilt for choice at Wimbledon betting sites. Markets across bookies are very similar; however, they differ slightly when it comes to in-play betting.

If you’re new to betting on tennis, consider looking at the following markets:

  • Wimbledon Outright Winner
  • Match Winner
  • Set Betting
  • Games Betting
  • Wimbledon Player Betting

Wimbledon Betting — Outright Winner

Obviously being in the UK, you’re going to back a Brit to win, aren’t you? Patriotism aside, if you have an inkling a certain player is going to excel at Wimbledon this year, consider backing them before the tournament starts.

As the matches start to unfold and top seeds start to get knocked out, the odds can shift quite dramatically, so you may find the best value is in advance.

Alternatively, if you’ve been watching a lower ranked player and they played well at Queen’s, you may want to wait. The decision is yours!

Either way, the outright winner market can holds lots of value and can be incredibly exciting and nail-biting.

Individual Match Winner Markets

This is perhaps the most common market, pre and post-match. Since draws aren’t possible in tennis, you either back one player or the other — or a pairing for doubles and mixed doubles.

Offering an excellent opportunity to follow your favourite player through the tournament, you can win a decent amount of money as the world’s grandest tennis tournament goes on.

Bear in mind that Wimbledon does differ from other tournaments in a single, yet powerful way… grass! Most other surfaces throughout the season are either:

  • Hard
  • Indoor
  • Clay

Grass offers a completely different playing experience and not all players will fair well on the unique SW19 tennis environment. Despite the excellent skills of the grounds staff, the grass surface gets worn and tactics need to be adjusted. The pace of grass court tennis is completely different to any other service and tactics need to change.

With this in mind, just because the world number 1 has just one back-to-back tournaments, that doesn’t mean the Wimbledon trophy is a given.

Additionally, the match winner markets are the usual target for enhanced odds boosts, especially for doubles and trebles with Betfair.

Wimbledon Set Betting — Where the Fun Begins

Set betting provides for a more fun and adventurous side to tennis betting at the old and new bookies in the UK. The most basic market here is for either player to win the first set. After each set, and therefore with the match being in-play, this market is replaced with who will the 2nd, 3rd, etc. sets.

Furthermore, you have the chance to bet on the exact game score for each set. The odds for these vary wildly, of course. For example, a 6-0 win may carry odds of 50/1 (51.0), whereas a more likely 6-4 victory could have odds of 6/1 (7.0).

A tactic you could take here is to research the match-up, and more specifically if they’ve played on grass against each other before. What’s the usual result? Does one player win the first set and then go on to lose? Do they usually blitz to a 6-0 or 6-2 lead and then struggle for the third set and win the fourth to seal the victory?

Some other exciting options for you in tennis set betting are:

  • 1st game score
  • Which player will break serve first in each set
  • Total number of games in the set
  • Total number of sets in the match
  • Whether a player will win in straight sets

Wimbledon Games Betting

Similar to set betting, games betting takes it one step further. This allows you to bet on each game before the match and as the match develops. This part of tennis betting so for the much more advanced bettor, though, so be careful!

Some popular options for you here are:

  • First break of serve
  • Race to x amount of games in the current set
  • Score after 4 or 6 games in the current set
  • Odd or even total number of games in the current set

Bets for Player Betting

As another form of advanced tennis betting, various player markets exist if you want to get more refined. For example, you can back one of the players to win a set or even two sets. This could be a great option even if you expect a player to lose — their recent form may suggest that they don’t win much bet always manage to bag a set.

Some other options for you here are:

  • Winning from behind
  • Each player’s first service game or point
  • Total points
  • Score after a 2, 3 and 4 points

Pre-Match or In-Play Wimbledon Betting

wimbledon tennis betting

The great thing about tennis betting is that you can mix up your bets across all markets both pre-match and in-play. Some punters prefer the set-and-forget style of pre-match betting. Others like to watch a game on live stream and place bets as they see a shift in advantage from one player to the other.

Pre-Match Tennis Betting

Most of the markets we mentioned above are available before the first serve. Some excellent value can be had here, and this is your best opportunity to get on some of the matched deposit bonuses and enhanced odds.

In-Play Tennis Betting

Some bettors say that this is where the magic happens. Once the players take the court after their warm-up, the markets will go in-play and price movements are much more rapid and sensitive.

We’ve all seen how even the top players the world has ever seen can be on 3 Championship points to go on to lose. When they’re serving to win, their prices will be very short, but the do-or-die situation for the other player means they can pull off a much-needed ace or recover from being down by a break point or more.

In an instant, the market odds can swing from to player to player as a favourite. If you can’t watch the game live or through a bookie’s live stream, the live data feed can help you, showing you information such as:

  • Number of aces
  • Number of double faults
  • Break point conversions won
  • 1st and 2nd serve %

These stats can help guide you where you place your next bet. For example, a player might have just broken serve and the market is showing them as the favourite. But, how are they actually playing? Are they double-faulting lots and have a low 1st serve %. This could mean that, although they’re winning, they’re still playing poorly but the opposition is off to a slow start. Is this normal for the opposition? Do they usually bounce back?

This is where combining in-play options, match data and the below strategies can give you a serious edge.

Wimbledon Betting Strategy

The best Wimbledon betting sites employ experts in statistics and software to provide them with their odds. But, that doesn’t mean that you can’t get an edge. Sure, it’s becoming harder and harder to find value across the markets, but if you take into some of the below factors into account, something might jump out at you:

  • How to get value
  • Use data to confirm your thoughts
  • Recent form and head to head matches

Getting Value From Wimbledon Betting Sites

Achieving “value” is when you can get better odds than the market indicates. This isn’t necessarily going to a different bookie to get better odds — although you should totally do that. It’s more about getting odds higher than what statistics say.

For example, let’s say Serena Williams is playing Johanna Konta. Now, as Brits, we’re torn between the power and proven record of Williams and backing our own player in Konta. However, you should take the emotion and thinking out of it. If they’ve met 4 times and both have won twice, this represents as odds of “Evens” (2.0). If you can find odds of greater than that, then you have value.

You can go into more depth than this, but the above should give you a good example. What you can do is combine data and statistics to really help you gain an advantage and get more value.

Confirm Your Thoughts With Data

Even if you believe you’ve found a “value” bet, you need to make sure that recent form and in-play stats confirm your thoughts.

Sticking with our Williams v Konta example, let’s say you’ve found some value in backing Konta. A good option here is to wait until they’ve started playing to see how Konta starts. If she starts off well, then you can look to enter the market with a bet. However, if this is normal for and she goes on to lose, you might want to think twice.

Form and Head to Head Stats

Taking it another step further, take into account each player’s recent form and how they fair against each other. Konta might be looking to win the first set, but is this a normal trend for her against Williams and has she then gone on to win?

You might find some interesting data surrounding an underdog going ahead early on and then the favourite picking up their game and going on to win.

Of importance is taking into account a player’s recent form. Sure, you might fancy a favourite to win a match pre-game, but what’s their recent form with regards to the surface and against that specific player, and also in that tournament year on year? Federer might be amazing on grass but really struggle on hard courts, as an example.

Wimbledon Betting Sites – Lots of Opportunity for Betting on Wimbledon

Using a combination of the offers from tennis betting sites and some know-how is an excellent way to enjoy your betting experience. So many punters shut their eyes and hope for the best or blindly follow their mate on Twitter.

If you do your research and take a step back and think, there’s value to be had from market prices and tennis bets and promotions.

Have fun at the best Wimbledon betting sites and we wish you the very best success!

Wimbledon Betting Sites – Wimbledon Men’s Odds 2020

The big three lead the way in the betting for the Men’s 2020 tournament. Novak Djokovic is the current favourite, with Roger Federer second fav, and Rafa Nadal third fav. It remains to be seen who will come out on top, but it’s worth keeping an eye on form heading into Wimbledon 2020.

Wimbledon Betting Sites – Wimbledon 2020 Odds Women’s Draw

At the time of writing, there’s no clear favourite to win Wimbledon in 2020 on the women’s side. Serena Williams, Simona Halep, Ashley Barty, Bianca Andreescu, and Karolina Pliskova are all similar prices. Again, keep an eye on each player as we approach the tournament to see who’s in the better form leading up to the event.

Wimbledon Betting Sites FAQs

Despite Federer winning the battle of the Wimbledon titles 8 vs. 5, Djokovic’s wins have come in more recent years. But, did you know that Djokovic has the upper hand when it comes to face-offs between these two tennis greats? As of August 2019, they’ve met 48 times in ATP matches, with Djokovic winning 54% of these (26 victories). So, the next time you see odds for Djokovic of 17/20 (1.85) or higher, consider backing Djokovic. Vice versa for Federer at 117/100 (2.17). This will provide you with value.

If you’ve backed a player to win a match at Wimbledon and a player retires, your bet may be void. Different betting sites have different betting rules for tennis, so be sure to check these out when tennis betting. The pivotal point for a void bet is if a player retires before:

  • The first serve of the match
  • First set completed
  • Second set completed
  • Match completed

There are at least two sets in a tennis match. The maximum number of sets is five for men and three for women. A player needs to be at least two games ahead in order to win a set, with them needing at least six games to win. For example, in a women’s match, if a player wins the first set 6-4 and loses the second set 2-6, whoever wins the third set is the winner. If the score in this third set gets to 5-5, they will need to win 7-5, at least. Some final sets have been known to go on for many, many games thanks to the maximum set ruling.
