Bolton Wanderers Football Club is a professional association football club that is based in Bolton, the Greater Manchester area. The club has recently qualified for the Championship games and currently competes in it. It is the second tier of games in the English Football League system.

The club was formed as Christ Church Football Club more than a full century ago, in 1874. They adopted their current name after a few years, in 1877. Bolton Wanderers F. As of 2015, the club has spent more seasons in the top division than any other club outside the current Premier League.

Historically the team has shown a lot of success. They won the FA Cup three times in the 1920’s. They also won the cup for the fourth time in 1958. A slow period followed and in 1987 the club reached its lowest point and spent a season in the Fourth Division. Bolton Wanderers regained top status in 1995. Since then, they have managed to qualify for the UEFA Cup twice.

The club played at Burden Park for 102 years, however after the disaster on the 9th of March 1946, they moved out of town to the Reebok Stadium, which was named after their long- term club sponsor – Reebok. In the summer of 2014 the name of the stadium was changed to Macron Stadium to reflect the club's new deal with the Italian sportswear company – Macron.

Comments on the Partnership

The chairman of the Bolton Wanderers F. C., Ken Anderson, mentioned that they were very happy with the sponsorship deal. He also added that the latest shirt deal with Betfred reflected their growing list of high profile partners.

He said, “We are thrilled to have Betfred on board as our official shirt sponsor who join our ever- increasing and high- profile partnership portfolio.”

He also added that just like the football club, Betfred is a leading national brand. However, both the Bolton Wanderers f. C. and Betfred Plc. have managed to keep hold of their north-western roots over the years.

Anderson said, “They are one of the leading betting brands in the UK but have never forgotten their roots which are firmly entrenched in the North West.”

He concluded by saying that the club is very pleased with the partnership and is looking forward to working with them over the next two seasons.

He said, “We are looking forward to working closely with them throughout our partnership.”

The founder and CEO of Betfred Plc., Fred Done, also said that he was delighted to be renewing his company's links with the Bolton Wanderers. He reminisced about their past partnership and mentioned that it was even better to be back this time as their main sponsor.

Done said, “Betfred enjoyed a great relationship with Bolton whilst operating as the club’s official betting partner a few years ago and it's great to be back at Macron Stadium but this time as title sponsor.”

He added that this was a good time to forge a relationship with the club. Not only was their return to the Champions League an exciting development, but experts believe that they are going to do big things with their new found position.

He said, “I have been looking to get more involved in football and, following their return to the Championship, I sense that Bolton are on the verge of exciting times again.”

He finished his statement by adding that the representatives at Bolton have shown great enthusiasm about the partnership and both parties were pleased with how the deal had been worked out.
