Harry Kane won the golden boot in the Premier League last season, scoring 25 goals for Spurs. He finished a goal ahead of both Aguero and Vardy and it went right down to the wire. All three feature prominently in the top scorer outright betting for this season, but there are a few others that need considering too. If you are having a bet in the Premier League top scorer market you should check out our preview and exclusive prediction below.

Premier League Top Scorer Main Contenders
Premier League Top Scorer Odds: 16/1 Betfred
Last year’s top scorer in the Premier League was Harry Kane and he is the current 2nd favourite this season. It is perhaps surprising to see him available at odds of 7/1, but he did play poorly at the Euros. However, nobody really produced the goods for England in France and he shouldn’t be judged too harshly.
He started the season very slowly last year and, unfortunately for his backers, it has been the same story this season. However, Kane was lethal once he found his form last season and it could be a similar story this time around. He has drifted like a barge in the betting all the way out to 16/1 with Betfred, and that could be a price worth taking as he is only three goals behind the leaders.
Club: Man City
Premier League Top Scorer Odds: 11/4 Bet365
Sergio Aguero just missed out on the golden boot last season, and if he had better luck with injuries he probably would have won it. That has been a recurring theme with the little Argentinian though and Guardiola needs him to stay fit. He started as the clear favourite to be the top scorer in the Premier League, and he is looking good so far.
Aguero has looked sharp as a tack so far this season, and he has scored six goals in all competitions. Three of those have come in the Premier League, and he leads the scoring charts along with Ibrahimovic. He has been cut from 7/2 into a best price of 11/4 with Bet365 for the Golden Boot, and plenty will still be tempted at those odds. If City continue in their current form, Aguero could be hard to stop in his quest to be top scorer.
Club: Man Utd
Premier League Top Scorer Odds: 4/1 Coral
Man Utd signed Zlatan on a free transfer from PSG in one of the most talked about moves of the summer. The big Swede is undeniably a top class talent, and he banged in 38 goals in Ligue 1 last season. However, he is turning 35 in October and he could find life in the Premier League a lot tougher than Ligue 1.
We thought it might take time for Zlatan to adapt to the unique demands of the Premier League. He has proved the doubters wrong though, with three goals in three games. Zlatan seems to be getting better with age, and his odds have been slashed from 10/1 into a top price of 4/1 with Coral. If he continues in the same vein those odds could tumble even further.
Premier League Top Scorer Odds: 25/1 BetVictor
Romelu Lukaku was the star man for the Toffees last season and they have done well to hang onto him. The big Belgian has a proven track record in the Premier League and he will be the main man up front for new manager Ronald Koeman. He scored an impressive 18 goals for a struggling side last season and he will be of interest to each way players.
With deadline day over Lukaku can finally concentrate on doing what he does best: scoring goals for Everton. He has been in and out of the team under Koeman, and he has lacked his usual sharpness. Lukaku hasn't found the back of the net so far this season, and he is on the drift. He is as big as 25/1 with BetVictor now (from 14/1) and unless he starts scoring soon the golden boot could be beyond him.
Premier League Top Scorer Odds: 16/1 Ladbrokes
Vardy and Mahrez were the two players that made the difference in the final third for The Foxes last season. Vardy missed out on the golden boot by a solitary goal, finishing 1 behind Kane with 24. He too had a disappointing time at the Euros, but he did at least manage to get a goal.
It was hard to see Leicester and Vardy repeating last year's heroics, and so it has proved. Four points from their first three games is not a great return, and Vardy has scored just once. He is out to 25/1 (from 16/1) with William Hill, but even at that price we won't be backing him for Premier League top scorer this season.
EPL Top Scorer Predictions 2016/17 – Best Of The Rest
Diego Costa was woeful last season but he looks back to his best under new boss Conte. He was available to be backed at odds of 20/1, in pre-season, but he is a best price of 12/1 now with Ladbrokes. Daniel Sturridge looked the most likely contender from Liverpool, but he seems to have a strained relationship with Klopp. He has been well below par this season..
Premier League Top Scorer 2016/17 Prediction
As can be seen from the above, there are plenty of viable contenders to be Premier League top scorer this season. Sergio Aguero looks the obvious choice after his turbo start, but he is injury prone and that cost him last term. We still really like the look of Harry Kane, and the Spurs man definitely looks overpriced now at 16/1. Only three games have been played and he has lots of time to catch up on the current leaders. Our exclusive prediction for Premier League top scorer 2016/17 is Harry Kane at odds of 16/1 with Betfred, who offer a tasty £30 sign up bonus to new customers.
